Are you looking for a good, all-round, standard mouthpiece?
Here a few necessary tips that will help you quickly find the right fit:
The most comfortable, all-round mouthpiece to suit most lips is
the number 8.5 (internal diameter 17.5 mm).
If you have a naturally dark tone and are looking for help in the high register, you should try the next step higher, with the mouthpiece number
8.0.
If you have a good high range but feel that it sometimes sounds too bright, you might want to go one step deeper, to the
number 9.0.
Low horn players normally find the number 9.0 to be a good fit.

Here a special note about my funnel-shaped, Viennese style mouthpieces,
which are generally much deeper.
For a good, all-round Viennese style mouthpiece, you will find the numbers 2.0 and 2.5
to be what I call, "The golden middle."

Nr. 2.0 Vienna Style
Number 2.0-17.5 is good for high horn.
Nr. 2.5 Vienna Style
Number 2.5-17.5 is good for 2nd Horn
or for the 1st horn who has a very good, light speaking, high range.
